What is Diabetics or Sugar?
Diabetes is a disease that occurs
when people have high blood glucose, also known as diabetes.
Diabetes is a condition in which
our body does not function properly to use food as energy. Most of the food we
eat is converted into glucose or sugar for our bodies to use for energy.
The pancreas, an organ close to the
stomach, produces a hormone called insulin, which helps glucose enter the cells
of our body.
Blood glucose is the body's most
important source of energy and it comes from the food we eat. Insulin, a
hormone produced by the pancreas, helps our cells use glucose from food for
energy.
Sometimes our body does not use enough insulin
properly — or throughout. Glucose then stays in your blood and does not reach
your cells. Its deficiency is diabetes.

Types
of Diabetes:
There are generally 3 types of diabetes. These are,
·
Type 1 diabetes
·
Type 2 diabetes
·
Gestational diabetes
Causes
of type 1 diabetes:
In most people with
type 1 diabetes, type 1 diabetes occurs when the body's immune system attacks
and destroys the insulin-producing beta cells of the pancreas. As a result, your pancreas stops producing
insulin. Without insulin, glucose cannot enter your cells and your blood
glucose rises above normal. This is called type 1 diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes can
develop at any age, but most often in children and adolescents. If you have
type 1 diabetes, your body produces too little or stops producing insulin
altogether.
That means daily
insulin injections are needed to control blood glucose levels. Patients with
type 1 diabetes need to take insulin every day to stay alive.
Causes
of type 2 diabetes:
Type 2 diabetes
usually affects adults and about 90% of all diabetics have type 2 diabetes. When
a person has type 2 diabetes, his body does not use the insulin produced by the
pancreas properly.
An important role in
the treatment of type 2 diabetes involves a healthy lifestyle and increased
physical activity and a healthy diet. However, over time most people with type
2 diabetes will need oral medications and insulin to control their blood
glucose levels.
The good news is, you
can take action to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes.

Gestation
Diabetics
It is a type of
diabetes that causes high blood glucose during pregnancy.
It is associated with
problems for both mother and baby. Gestational diabetes usually disappears
after pregnancy,
But women and their
children are at higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life.
Health
Problems of Diabetics:
Over time, high blood glucose leads to problems such as
·
heart disease
·
stroke
·
kidney disease
·
eye problems
·
dental disease
·
nerve damage
